Eurasian Magpie - Pica pica - Harakka
Eurasian Magpie is a resident breeding bird throughout Europe, much of Asia and northwest Africa. [[MORE]] The Eurasian Magpie is a distinctive species with its pied plumage, long 20–30 centimetres (8–12 in), graduated tail and loud chatter. When Magpies pass each other in open country, they command attention by rapidly moving their wings and chattering. Like other corvids, such as crows,...

Swift - Apus apus - Kiitäjä
The swift is a medium-sized aerial bird, which is a superb flier. It evens sleeps on the wing! It is plain sooty brown, but in flight against the sky it appears black. It has long, scythe-like wings and a short, forked tail. It is a summer visitor, breeding across the UK, but most numerously in the south and east. It winters in Africa. Where to see them Look up in the sky in summer, often...

Blue Ocean
She studied her face in the mirror.[[MORE]] She sighed deeply and she felt the tiredness still clinging to her. Sighing again she turned away and left the bathroom. It was morning, sun shining brightly through the kitchen window. She started the coffeemaker and went to dress herself for the day. Coffee was ready when she returned to the kitchen. She took her morning medicine and added some milk...

Sunshine reggae
I look at Nyytti – the rat - who is happily eating a carrot stick and I think to myself what could I do next. I open the backdoor and step outside. I smell the freshly-cut grass and start humming to myself “sunshine reggae”. There is an odd sound coming behind the fence. It sounds like an animal eating something, tearing things apart. I thought the neighbours didn’t have animals so I peek to see...

The city burned, fire lighting up the night sky.
Prompt: The city burned, fire lighting up the night sky. It looked like a reaper. You know the ones from the Mass Effect universe. [[MORE]] Except they are fictional. There are no reapers. Absolutely not. I am hallucinating. I can smell smoke though and see fire. I see people running and hear them screaming. I feel suddenly very weak, and I realise that there is blood in my hands. I quickly...

De-Stress Afternoon
Enjoyed the walk in the sunshine today. What a lovely weather. Seeing dogs with happy faces made me smile.  Had a first ice cream of the summer. Mint chocolate. Nam. Had an afternoon nap, really needed the sleep to recuperate myself. Cos has set up a barbie so delicious food is to follow next. Started reading Stephen King’s  book The Gunslinger, first part of the The Dark Tower series.

Stress.
This year - this whatever - fucking sucks. [[MORE]] I cannot afford anything this month. All the bills so far and what needs paying mean that there will be around £100 for the rest of the month to use for food and necessities. That equals £33 pounds a week = £4 per day. Yes, you can survive with that money, noodles cost like £0.20. Talk about quality of living though. It’s going to be...
